Edward Lee Dean (Source: Bulloch County Sheriff's Office)
BULLOCH CO., GA (WTOC) -
Bulloch County Sheriff's Office investigators were notified by a concerned citizen in Sept. 2011 that a registered sex offender from South Carolina had moved to Bulloch Co. but did not register as a sex offender at his new residence.
The suspect, Edward Lee Dean, 35, was convicted of criminal sexual contact with a minor in Greenwood, S.C. in 1998. Dean moved to the Plantation Mobile Home Park on US 80 E in Bulloch Co. in March 2011.
Investigators obtained a warrant in Bulloch Co. for Dean on a single count of failure to register as a sex offender after they conducted follow up interviews. Investigators were unsuccessful in locating Dean and credible information suggested that he had fled back to South Carolina.
Dean was arrested in South Carolina by South Carolina Highway Patrol in Jan. 2012 during an accident investigation. He was extradited back to Bulloch County.
Citizens with knowledge of sex offenders who have absconded or moved into Bulloch Co. without registering are encouraged to contact Cpt. Hutchens at 912.764.1787 or submit an anonymous tip to tips@bullochsheriff.com.
