STATESBORO, GA (WTOC) -
A man facing battery, burglary and car theft charges is wanted by the Bulloch County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies and Bulloch County paramedics were called at about 6:23 p.m. Monday to the Eagle Trace mobile home park on U.S. 301 south on a domestic violence call.
A woman was taken to the East Georgia Regional Medical Center for treatment for non-life-threatening injuries. The victim told deputies that she had recently ended her relationship with Robert Lee Whitting, 44, of Statesboro.
She returned home, where Whitting was hiding under a bed. He crawled out from under it and physically assaulted her, according to the sheriff's office.
During the assault, Whitting grabbed her cell phone and stole the keys to her 2001 Buick Park Avenue sedan and left in her vehicle, according to the sheriff's office.
Whitting was released from prison in October 2011 after serving a three-year sentence for terroristic threats.
He is wanted by deputies on charges of burglary, theft by taking-motor vehicle, battery, and obstructing an emergency phone call. He may still be in possession of the victim's white 2001 Buick Park Avenue, according to the sheriff's office.
Those with information on the location Whitting or the Buick can call Inv. Jason Long at 912.764.1747 or submit an anonymous tip to tips@bullochsheriff.com.
