SSU Head Speaks on Brown vs. BOE

The head of Savannah State University is speaking out about the impact of Brown vs. Board of Education. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the landmark Supreme Court case. On may 17, 1954, Brown vs. Board of Education ended racial segregation in public schools.

Yesterday morning, Dr. Carlton Brown told the congregation of Saint Philip Monumental AME Church what the ruling has meant for Savannah State. "The ruling of Brown vs. Board of Education, it caused all institutions to redefine themselves," he said.

Brown's speech was part of Savannah's Black Heritage Celebration.
