AASU gears up for 4th annual Francophone Film Festival

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Armstrong Atlantic State University is gearing up for their Fourth Annual Francophone Film Festival, set to take place Feb. 23 to Feb. 25 at the Student Union's Ogeechee Theatre.

The commencement address on the opening night will be given by the Honorary Consul for France and Germany, Denis Blackburne. A reception with French food will follow the screening of the first film.

Film Schedule:

 

  • Feb. 23, 7 p.m. - Farewell, a nail-biting espionage drama based on true events from the early 1980s that helped bring down the Soviet Union. Length: 112 minutes.
  • Feb. 24, 6 p.m. - Hideaway, a heart-breaking film about a pregnant woman who finds refuge in a house far from Paris after her boyfriend passes away.  Length: 90 minutes.
  • Feb. 24, 8 p.m. - The Beautiful Person, a film that follows the forbidden passions and unrequited love at a Parisian high school. Length: 88 minutes.
  • Feb. 25, 6 p.m. - The Illusionist, an animated film based on an unproduced script by the French comic genius Jacques Tati. Length: 80 minutes.
  • Feb. 25, 8 p.m. - A Prophet, like a French take on The Godfather, this film follows a 19-year-old who enters prison as an uneducated naïf and leaves an experienced criminal. Length: 150 minutes.
