BRYAN CO., GA (WTOC) -
A brush fire that that began off of Highway
119 Feb. 11 was burning dangerously close to homes and the Bryan Co. High
School in Pembroke.
According to neighbors, the fire got
out of the control instantly.
"The fire was at a distance and within five minutes it
made it to my fence line. I got all the kids inside and the smoke covered my whole
front yard in white smoke," said Jennifer Cannon, a resident of Pembroke.
Neighbors drained their pools to keep
their yards wet.
Firefighters were quick to respond and within about an
hour had the fire under control.
