RINCON, GA (WTOC) -

An autopsy shows that a father who died in a weekend fire in Rincon died of smoke inhalation.

Vernon Warner died from a combination of smoke inhalation and thermal injuries.

David Ehsanipoor, spokesman for the Effingham County Sheriff's Office, said the mother, Audrey Warner, who also suffered burns in the fire early Saturday morning, remains in critical condition in the Joseph M. Still Burn Center in Augusta.

State Fire Marshals and the Effingham County Sheriff's Office were out at the scene Monday and determined the initial cause of the fire started with the stove.
