Film tours Savannah through Girls Scouts' eyes

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

A new documentary showcases the attractions, museums and sites that are of particular interest to Girl Scouts who visit the city where the group was founded.

"In the Footsteps of Daisy: A Girl's Guide to Juliette Gordon Low's Hometown--Savannah, GA," is a 30-minute documentary. The film can be previewed at www.girlscoutsdvd.com. It is scheduled to be released in March.  

The documentary takes part in Girl Scout troops' visits to the Andrew Low House, the "Grandfather Gordon" program at the Georgia State Railroad Museum, Savannah History Museum, & Battlefield Memorial Park, the "Girl Scout Militia" program at Old Fort Jackson, the Tybee Island Lighthouse, Beach and Marsh Walk programs organized by the Tybee Island Marine Science Center and more.

The film also includes rare photos of Girl Scouts visiting Savannah in the 1930s and 40s, letters and drawings from Juliette Gordon Low, which are part of the collection at the Georgia Historical Society.

The film was made by Michael Jordan. The DVD will be available at stores around Savannah and on www.girlscoutsdvd.com. The video is not affiliated with, endorsed or licensed by Girl Scouts of the USA.
