Customers raise concerns about CAT's Teleride System

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

For many folks, the bus is the only way they can get around town but some are having a hard time catching the CAT.

Chatham Area Transit's Chief Operating Officer William Law met with some of the customers raising concerns, especially with regards to CAT's Teleride System, which is supposed to give people with disabilities a lift with a simple phone call. According to these passengers, their phone calls are not being answered, their requests are being ignored, and Teleride is leaving passengers with no place to go.

"We cannot afford to be stranded. They cannot merge the CAT phone lines with Teleride lines. As they stated, they are picking up over a hundred calls an hour. So, how can we get through to get our times," said Patricia Heagarty.

Since taking office a little more than a month ago, Law has already come up with and had the board of directors approve a unified communication plan, which should take care of most of the problems. This meeting will help them make even more plans for the future.
