SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -
Low-income seniors are now
getting some help from the City of Savannah. On Feb. 13, a new partnership was
announced between the city and Community Help to make repairs to homes in
Savannah housing low-income elderly. With the decrease in federal funding,
Community Help has stepped in to provide funding for repairs. The very first
recipient of the partnership is getting a new roof.
"I'm just so grateful. I was
having problems and I called the city and they sent me applications. I filled
them out and they asked questions and I answered them as best I could. They
told me I was approved and I said hallelujah," said Lucy Grant, home repair
recipient.
The city is providing Ms. Grant
with two-thirds of the funding while Community Help is providing the rest.
