Gullah/Geechee exhibit to open this week in Brunswick

BRUNSWICK, GA (WTOC) -

Geechee Kunda, the Gullah Geechee Center of America, will present its contribution to Black History Month this week in Brunswick and St. Mary's.

Gullah/Geechee people will share their history with the presentation, "Rice, Riddum, N'Rime". The show will highlight the taboo culture and traditions of Gullah/Geechee people in the Coastal Empire through storytelling, music and art.

The first show will take place on Tuesday, Feb. 21, at 5 p.m. in the Linda S. Pinson Conference Center --Brunswick Campus at 2415 Parkwood Dr. and at 5 p.m. Thursday in the Activities Room at the Senior Care Center-St. Marys, 805 Dilworth Street in St. Mary's.

In addition to the presentation, an art exhibit by a local, African-born artist will be displayed at the Southeast Georgia Health System Outpatient Care Center Art Gallery, 2500 Starling St., Brunswick, until March 5. All events are open and free to the public.
