BLUFFTON, SC (WTOC) -
The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office is investigating a third-party report of a sexual assault case.
At about 12:30 p.m. on Friday, deputies met with a woman who claimed to have details on a sexual assault that had occurred earlier that morning at an apartment at the Estates at Westbury, according to the sheriff's office.
The victim told the woman that she had been walking her dog at about 8:30 a.m. in the apartment complex when a man approached her from behind. The woman told deputies that man put an object on the victim's back, possibly a handgun, and forced her into an apartment where he sexually assaulted her. The man then ran from the area.
The alleged victim has declined cooperation and there are no other details to substantiate the incident, according to the sheriff's office.
