SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

A high school dropout can expect to make almost $10,000 less a year than someone with a diploma.

WTOC's Evan Johnson goes behind prison walls to uncover the lessons learned by those who have Dropped Out and are locked up. He talks to a 17-year-old and a 19-year-old who are spending time at the Chatham County Detention Center.

"Nobody wants to hire an uneducated person," said an inmate.

An increasing number of high school dropouts are ending up in prison.

"I wish I would have stayed in school. I wish I would have tried to get that diploma," the inmate told WTOC.

Watch the special report Thursday at 5 and 11 p.m. on WTOC-TV.
