Military Salute: Ken Shamrock at Fort Stewart

HINESVILLE, GA (WTOC) -

These soldiers are actually glad to get a beating from former professional wrestler Ken Shamrock. They're learning skills Shamrock picked up from his troubled youth, skills that one day may save these soldiers lives.

"You never know when you may run into a guy, your weapon may malfunction, you may turn a corner and be right up on them," said Staff Sergeant Casey Enos, Headquarters Company First Brigade Heavy Combat Team.

Shamrock's style highlights traditional martial arts with a heavy focus on using the legs to come out on top. Not exactly text book tactics.

"All the techniques we learned were real to life and conducive to the battlefield, so our soldiers will be able to take it back and teach it to the their units," said Sergeant Eddie Clark, Headquarters Company First Brigade Heavy Combat Team

"It just felt like the right thing to do, you know I can actually contribute to these guys and motivate these guys into doing something positive for all of us," said Shamrock.

Shamrock is known by this unit as the world's most dangerous fighter.

"I'm a grappler, you know, I'm on TV, I'm famous, I'm not really risking anything other than my health. And I get around these guys who are here for whatever reason and they're here and they're basically sacrificing the ultimate." said Shamrock.

"Him coming to Fort Stewart really shows that he really supports the soldiers in the US Army and it really meant a lot to us," said Clark.

Shamrock spent the day reviewing and demonstrating maneuvers so these soldiers have more to add to the battlefield arsenal.
