Police Catch Fleeing Suspects

A team effort by Savannah-Chatham police is being credited for capturing two men overnight. They wrecked the car they were in, then ran from police.

One of the suspects tried to hide under a house at the corner of Henry and Abercorn Streets. Police could see the suspect, but he refused to come out of his hiding place, so officers used pepper spray to fog an area under the porch. Minutes later, officers who had crawled under the house brought him out and took him into custody.

The other suspect was caught while running on East Duffy Street.

The men wrecked the car they were in after they went the wrong way on Anderson Street and ran into a building between Anderson and Henry on Abercorn. The car was an Oldsmobile but had a license belonging to a Honda.

Charges of fleeing and eluding and obstruction along with a large number of traffic offenses have been filed against the driver, 19-year-old Samuel Gaston. The passenger, Arki Frazier, 18, was charged with fleeing.
