The Savannah Historic Riverfront
and Visit Savannah are set to host the 2012 Savannah Tall Ship Challenge in
May. The two groups made the announcement Wednesday at the Ships of the Sea Museum. So far, 15 tall ships have confirmed that they will dock along River
Street for the event.
"To have 14 to 15 ships be able
to come into our city for a weekend and enjoy the Savannah experience as well
as this magnificent event, it is really something that you are not going to be
able to experience many times in your life," said Joseph Marinelli, Visit
Savannah President.
The event even gives festival
goers the opportunity to buy a private excursion on one of the ships.
