STATESBORO, GA (WTOC) -

Georgia Southern University opens its new military resource center. It's a place where military students can work while they're on campus. It includes a computer lab and a staffer to help them out.

"This is part of an overall effort to make Georgia Southern more accommodating to the military population. And when we say military, we mean active duty, veterans, National Guard, reserves and their families," said Dr. William Moore, GSU's vice president and provost.

The university estimates 600 students are military or spouses of military members. The staff person can assist students with challenges such as advisement, financial aid through the GI Bill and more.
