Military families on Hunter Army Airfield are getting a new place to come together. Today, the Red Cross Cafe opened its doors on the base. Officials say the cafe opening has come at the right time because, the Third ID has received redeployment order to Iraq in the fall.
They hope the Red Cross Cafe will be used by families while their loved ones are overseas. "It's a resource for families to use as a gathering place during deployment to exchange information and coordinate things while husbands and wives are gone," said garrison commander Lt. Col. Jeff Goble.
The Red Cross Cafe is a cooperative effort between Hunter Army Airfield, Starbuck's and the Savannah chapter of the Red Cross.
