MARSHVILLE, NC (WBTV) - A Monroe woman was fatally shot in a Marshville apartment complex after police believe she was involved in a fight at a club.
Thursday the brother-in-law of the victim, Maria Rochelle Jordan, 34, turned himself in to police and was charged with her murder.
Jerome Waters, 35, is in custody at the Union County Jail under a $500,000.00 bond. He faces charges of second degree murder and possession of firearms charges.
According to Marshville Police Chief Carl Webber, officers were called to an apartment complex along Elaine Street on Sunday March 4 at 2:30 a.m.
When officers arrived, they found Jordan suffering from gunshot wounds. Jordan was rushed to Carolinas Medical Center-Union where she later died from her injuries.
Chief Webber told WBTV that investigators believe Jordan was involved in a domestic dispute at a club in Marshville earlier in the evening. That argument spilled over into the apartment complex where Jordan was found shot.
Waters has his first court appearance on April 2, 2012, police said.
