The free shuttle which travels throughout the City of Savannah will remain free. The Chatham Area Transit board met today to make that decision. At one point, a suggestion was made to charge riders 25 cents. The City of Savannah, which pays for half the service, was furious, and so were members of the CAT board.
Today, the board took a final vote to keep the shuttle free. New signs will be posted to let riders know where the free shuttles are.
They also decided at the meeting to buy ten new buses.
