    A man accused of shooting of an Army captain in downtown Savannah in 2004 has received a guilty verdict from a jury.  A jury found Deon Jones guilty on of the felony murder of U.S. Army Captain Scott Corwin during a robbery near Monterey Square in 2004. The jury did acquit Jones of a malice murder charge, meaning they don't think that Jones planned the murder.  Jones was already in jail on an unrelated issue when his warrant was served. SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Savannah is now offering free workshops at Verizon Wireless on Abercorn Street to instruct smartphone users how to utilize their devices.

Verizon experts will be available on a number of days this month from 8:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.

For Android users, experts will answer questions on transferring content from a device, social networking accounts, setting up multiple E mail accounts, using the browsers, troubleshooting and much more March 26.

Interested individuals can also learn the basics of the new Android Device, including hardware functions, master device features, social networking accounts, how to customize your device March 16 and March 19.

For iPhone users, experts will teach the great features of Apple's iPhone 4s March 12, March 24, and March 30. These include what's new with iPhone 4S, how to navigate and customize the device, demonstrate performing tasks such as setting up email, using the camera & camcorder functions, getting the most out of Siri, the Notification Center, iCloud and more.

Lastly, they will also teach the features of the Apple iPhone 4. These include, basic hardware functionality and features of the Apple iPhone 4 such as: iPod, photos, multitasking and The App Store March 31.

During all sessions, participants will also have a chance to practice using these features on the iPhone 4 and learn about valuable resources available to you beyond the workshop.

If they can't make it to the in-store event, customers may also educate themselves using Verizon Wireless' online version of the workshops on demand at www.verizonwireless.com/workshops.  Both the in-store and online workshops are aimed at teaching consumers the ins and outs of their devices.

    The BAPS charity walk to support The Nature Conservancy's efforts to plant and restore land was held on Sunday in Forsyth Park.  The group hopes to restore up to 1.6 million acres of land by 2025, planing to do that by planting one billion trees through their Plant a Billion Tree initiative.
