SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -
Several people called WTOC Thursday morning saying they heard a loud boom and some even felt their house shake around 8:30 a.m. Ray Parker, the Emergency Management Director in McIntosh County, ruled out an earthquake.
The Georgia Emergency Management Agency and the Air Force both confirm that what people heard was a sonic boom. Some Air Force planes were doing training exercises off the Georgia coast Thursday morning, when one may have gotten too close to land.
The Air Force promptly told their pilots to "slow down".
Fortunately, no one was hurt and no damage has been reported.
