Sein Fein Society Burning of the Green Grits

It's a St. Patrick's Day tradition that only the Sein Fein Society can make happen each year, the burning of the green grits! This morning, a fiery silver bowl of grits was brought out for the early morning event. The Green Grits Committee not only lit up the food but a few spots on the rug as well. It's all a matter of tradition and of course the men had a green fire extinguisher ready.

But where do they get those green grits? "I've told you in the past about the green grits farm in Cumberland County. That's where they come from," said Troy Bouy of the Green Grits Committee. "This year we are going to donate two acres on that farm to the black thorn bush where shillelaghs come from. There's a shortage in Ireland of them."

Special guests at the breakfast included Gen. Webster and Lt. Col. Goeble from the Third Infantry Division. Both say they've never seen anything like what happened at this morning's breakfast.
