3 people charged after meth bust in Statesboro

STATESBORO, GA (WTOC) -

Three people face drug charges after the Bulloch County Drug Supression Team acted on a tip and went to a Statesboro home to investigate.

Investigators went to 52 Brannen St. at 4 p.m. March 20 on the drug complaint and saw a man carrying a bucket with methamphetamine-making materials walking out the back door and ran, according to the sheriff's office. The man, who was identified as Roy Elliott Bennett, 28, of Brunswick, was taken into custody after a chase.

He was brought back to the house and detained along with two women. Meth, drug paraphenalia and components used to manufacture meth were found in the home, according to the sheriff's office.

Bennett is charged with one count of manufacturing meth, one count possession of meth and one count of obstruction.

Melissa Burnsed, 41, of Statesboro, is charged with one count of manufacturing meth and one count of possession of meth.

Danielle Lee Tory, 27, of Brunswick, is charged with one count of manufacturing meth, one count of possession of meth and one count of obstruction.

Tory's 10-month-old child was also located at the home and was turned over to Georgia Dept. of Human Services.

They were taken to the Bulloch County Jail. Bennett and Tory remain in jail and Burnsed posted an $8,000 bond and was released.
