A Coastal Empire baby who received a multiple organ transplant three weeks ago is continuing to improve. 20-month old Mason Morgan was born with short bowel syndrome, a condition that left him missing 90% of his bowels. In late February, he received a new large intestine, small intestine, liver, pancreas, stomach, colon and spleen at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami.
Today, his family says doctors allowed him to eat and drink by mouth, instead of through a tube. Mason could still be in the hospital for another two or three months; however, his doctors and family are pleased with his progress.
WTOC will continue to update you on Mason's condition. If you would like to help the family, they've set up an account in Mason's name at Bank of America, 2153 E. Victory Drive in Savannah.
