The City of Savannah continues to prepare the metropolitan police department for the upcoming G-8 summit. Yesterday, city council approved the purchase of disturbance control protection gear and hydration systems. Officers will wear these on their backs during their field force activities.
An upgrade to the radio system was also approved to make sure officers can effectively communicate with each other.
