Shooting in Jesup Shooting in Jesup

JESUP - Wayne County sheriff's deputies tell WTOC the shooting happened around 7 p.m. Sunday at a home on Gilford Street.

Deputies say 60-year-old Randy Roberson shot his 27-year-old daughter Clarissa Jackson multiple times, including once in the face. She managed to escape the house, and ran next door to a neighbors home. That's where EMTs and Jesup police got her and transported her to a local hospital. Jackson was then flown to Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah, where she later died.

Deputies said that Roberson, who also lived in the home, refused to come out. The Wayne County Sheriff's Office, the Jesup Police Dept., Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Georgia State Patrol surrounded the house.

Negotiators tried to communicate with Roberson all evening, without any success. They finally used an armored car, moving it slowly toward the home, where they found Roberson dead.

There is no word on what led to the shooting.
