BEAUFORT, SC (WTOC) – Officials in Beaufort County are reminding folks it is against the law to litter.
They are cracking down, placing signs around the county as well as stationing deputies near trash dumps to make sure garbage is disposed of properly.
Officers will also patrol the roads looking drivers tossing their cigarette butts out of their windows.
Anyone caught breaking the law could face a fine of up to one thousand dollars.
