St. Joseph's/Candler is so good at getting its patients to their appointments that other hospitals across the country want to imitate them. Four years ago, the hospital started a program in which the state certifies its transporters in CPR and other life-saving techniques. This Sunday, the graduates will become the first in the country to be nationally certified.
Transport manager Cardell Jones says hospitals all over the country will soon be using St. Joe's program as a model for their own. "This was the birth place of it," he said. "It started at St. Joe's/Candler, and the model we developed then is the one being taken forth to the rest of the nation. As I said, Key West to Canada. We are getting requests from Canada about information for the course."
The transporter graduation is 2pm this Sunday at Savannah Tech.
