One Dead in Three-Vehicle Wreck

A tragic accident happened right in front of the Hillcrest Abbey Cemetery near the Truman Parkway, leaving one woman dead. It happened around 8:30am this morning. Emergency personal rushed to the scene where police say two trucks and one car were involved. The scene was so bad they had to close off a section of Wheaton Street.

All three motorists were rushed to the hospital. Two were treated and released. The third motorist--48-year-old Melody Jameson of Savannah--was killed in the accident.

"Two vehicles involved were eastbound and one of the vehicles struck one vehicle, spun out, went into the oncoming lane, struck the other vehicle head on," said Savannah-Chatham police spokesman Sgt. Mike Wilson.

Police say they still don't know what caused the accident. But they do know speed and driving on the wrong side of the road is what caused Jameson's death.
