Murder Suspect Arrested

James Nixon James Nixon

Savannah-Chatham police have arrested a man wanted for a homicide that happened earlier this month. Police say the suspect is also wanted for two armed robberies that took place yesterday. About 2pm yesterday afternoon, officers arrested 38-year-old James Nixon of Baxley as he was seen going into a fast food restaurant at Montgomery Street and Victory Drive in Savannah.

Police had identified Nixon as the suspect in the March 6 killing of 52-year-old James Meadows. His body was found about 9:15am that morning in the yard of his home on Carroll Street in the Carver Heights community. Police say Meadows had been beaten to death.

Nixon has been charged with murder in connection with that case. He was also charged with robbing two women using a knife in separate incidents yesterday. And Nixon is charged with violating probation in Ware County. He's in the Chatham County jail scheduled to be arraigned today.
