Some Savannah residents cruised around town today in brand new BMWs while raising money to help fight breast cancer. It's all part of BMW's Ultimate Drive fundraiser. Critz BMW sponsored today's event, letting people test drive the cars in Savannah. The dealership then donated $1 for every mile driven to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
For people battling the disease, Karen Nelson--a breast cancer survivor--was chosen as our local hero for today's fundraiser. "It is such a wonderful contribution, not just in the community, but to medical research," she said. "And I thank them, from the bottom of my heart, for doing this."
The cars travel all over the United States raising money. Over the past eight years, they've raised $7 million. They hope to raise another million this year.
