Investigators are still trying to determine what caused a deck on a Tybee home to collapse last night, sending ten people to the hospital. It happened at a house on Sixth Avenue.
A group of teens from Savannah Christian were getting their prom pictures taken on the third floor deck, when it came crashing down to the balcony below.
"I'm not sure if all ten were on the deck or on the second level," explained Sgt. William Moseley, with Tybee Island Police, "but whatever it was, we have ten injured and transported."
Investigators are trying to find out if the number of people on the deck may have contributed to the collapse. Fortunately, investigators say no one was seriously hurt; however, the minor injuries were numerous.
"They range from scraped knees, sore ankles, some complaints about back pain and neck pain," added Moseley.
School officials told WTOC on Saturday that one person would need foot surgery, but none of the students were seriously injured. Two parents who were also hurt in the crash, were being released from a local hospital.
Building inspectors are still investigating what caused the collapse.
