The driver who crashed into a crowd of parade-goers on Saint Patrick's Day will not face charges. Today, the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department closed the case, saying their investigation is inconclusive.
John Sheppard's 1996 Chrysler Sebring was checked out by four different experts and all agree there are no defects in the vehicle.
WTOC spoke with Sheppard, who told us, "That was a nightmare. I just didn't know what was happening. I saw people that were directly hit, running, but I was concerned about trying to stop the car and at the same time trying to find a place that I could avoid hitting people."
Traffic investigators determined that there is insufficient evidence to warrant any charges against Sheppard, either criminal or traffic related.
