Take a Survey to Help Schools

New schools in Jasper County could mean new opportunities for the community, but school officials need your input. Jasper County School District is replacing all of its current schools with two new pre-kindergarten to 12th-grade facilities, one in Ridgeland, the other in Hardeeville. The schools are expected to open in 2006, which will leave the current buildings vacant.

That's why the school district is sending out survey forms to help them decide what to do with the current facilities. And many ideas are floating around.

"Our young folks in the community have no place to go, there are no community centers, there is a possibility of the YMCA or Boys and Girls Club or other organizations coming in," said district superintendent Dr. William Singleton.

Other suggestions include using one of the schools for the district office or recreation center. Survey forms are available at the district office (843.717.1101) and other businesses around the county, or you can do it online.
