People around the world are marking this Good Friday with special ceremonies. Hundreds of people attended the Liturgy of the Cross ceremony at the Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist. There's no mass at the cathedral on Good Friday--instead, they read several Bible passages. Clergy members then perform an ancient cross ceremony and have communion.
Church members say the tradition is rich in symbolism. "A deep sense of what Christ suffered for us and above all, His triumph and resurrection, which we celebrate with great glory on Sunday," said Father Douglas Clark.
The Easter celebration will continue at the cathedral throughout the weekend with mass on Saturday and Sunday.
