Rep. Mickey Stephens of Savannah is running for reelection. This time he will be campaigning for the newly created 161st District. Rep. Stephens was elected two years ago and has worked on projects including Battlefield Park, the building of a new container berth at the Georgia Ports and several projects at Savannah State University.
He says he wants to continue what he started. "Well, I saw there was a need for true leadership in the district and this is a full-time job and a full-time passion of mine, so the things I started and the goals I made, I want to meet them and those objectives," he said.
Rep. Stephens will be running against Rep. Lester Jackson in the primaries because of the new court-drawn district lines.
