If you enjoy a ride down River Street, mark your calendar. Savannah-Chatham police announced their plans for the popular tourist and nightlife strip during June's G-8 summit. They won't let you drive down the river. They'll set up checkpoints to let commercial vehicles for deliveries, but that's it.
The Waterfront Association's okay with the plan. "The key is just working together," said the association's Scott Searcy. "Being flexible and knowledgeable. That's why were meeting months in advance so there aren't any questions when the G-8 gets here."
They'll keep meeting in the weeks between now and the June summit. We'll keep you posted.
