SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Some students in the Coastal Empire are getting some new wheels.
On Friday, Veiola Transportation and Chatham Area Transit donated an 11-passenger bus to the West Broad Street YMCA.
The van will allow the YMCA to pick up students from school each day and take them on trips.
YMCA officials said state regulations require them to have this type of transportation. When their old bus stopped working, they simply didn't have the funds to buy a new one.
"This is priceless. I don't know how to put a value on it. Every non-profit is working in this economy to bring in the funds they need to survive," said Peter Doliber, executive director of the West Broad YMCA.
"It's rewarding. It's what we do - not only do we run an operation, but we give back to the community," said Roy Convington of Veolia Transportation.
The YMCA and the children said they can't thank the donators enough.
