Police Seek Suspects in Smash and Grab

Savannah-Chatham police are searching for at least three men in connection with a burglary early today. Just after 3am this morning, someone noticed a car back up east on 42nd Street and slam into the front of a clothing store on Waters Avenue. A witness tells police he saw three men get out of the car and yank clothes off the racks.

Then the suspects got back into the car and sped away. They were last seen heading west on 42nd Street from Waters Avenue, then turning north on Harmon. It also appears the suspects cut a lock holding a roll-up metal door in place, before they smashed into the store. The thieves left hundreds of dollars in damage.

Police are looking for a white four-door Buick or Lincoln that should have heavy damage on the back of the vehicle. Anyone with information about the burglary is asked to call CrimeStoppers 234-2020.
