Driver, gunman sought in shooting near Jenkins

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

A man was shot Monday night while walking near his home on front Herschel V. Jenkins High School in the 1800 block of East DeRenne Avenue.

Savannah-Chatham Metro Police said the shooting stemmed from a drug deal. They're looking for the SUV driver and gunman.

Craig Yeomans suffered non-life-threatening injuries about 10 p.m. Monday when a man in a blue SUV shot him.

Yeomans said he called a man who had sold him marijuana before and that person had asked him to come to the high school for another drug buy, according to police.

When the SUV pulled up, Yeomans pulled out his money to buy drugs, but a passenger got out and tried to rob him, according to police.

Yeoman told police that he started running when shots were fired and dropped his money and baseball hat. Police found those items on the ground in the area.

The driver of the SUV was described as in his mid-20s, 170 pounds with an average-to-husky build and a long, goatee beard. The gunman was wearing all black, had a dark complexion and a goatee.
