Editorial Salute - Memorial Day

The month of May is the historic-residence of some of America's most significant annual events and patriotic tributes.  The pathway to the re-generation and maintenance of liberty for the U.S. and the world, began May 8th with the 67th anniversary of VE-Day, marking final-freedom from Nazi-oppression for many millions, and a major step toward re-securing the rest of our planet, sadly, for only a time.  The final end of fascism's book-ended, murderous rampage, concentrated then, in the Pacific, would come three-months later, with VJ-Day in August of 1945.  Next in May, came Armed Forces Day, this year celebrated last Saturday, the 19th, our yearly-salute to all those who currently serve our nation, in all five branches, active, guard and reserve.

Finally, this Monday, Memorial Day, the very-special time we set aside, each year, to remember and honor all those brave Americans who, over the decades, right through to the present, have not only served our nation, but sacrificed their lives to defend and preserve it, for all who follow.  British author George Orwell wrote, many years ago, but true to this day:  "We sleep safely in our beds because rough men stand ready in the night to visit violence upon those who would do us harm."  Our heartfelt gratitude and thanks to those men and women who've served and sacrificed previously, or do so now, making it possible for America's citizens to live, work, raise-families, and sleep safely.  May God Almighty continue to bless our great  nation, and the proud members of our superb military, as they go about the persistent difficult and dangerous task of protecting us, our sovereignty, and our precious freedom.
