Man charged after stabbing in Statesboro

STATESBORO, GA (WTOC) -

A man was injured in connection with an overnight stabbing in Statesboro and another man has been arrested.

Statesboro police said it happened at the Campus Crossing apartment complex.

Police were called at 2:22 a.m. Thursday to East Georgia Regional Medical Center on a report of a man with stab wounds.

Police spoke with 21-year-old Oscar Alexander Polanco. He told police that he got into an argument at the apartment complex and was stabbed by Christopher Ian Belgrave. Polanco was transferred to Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah.

Belgrave was found near the scene of the incident and was taken into custody, according to Statesboro police.

He was then charged with aggravated assault and possession of a knife during the commission of a crime. Belgrave is being held in the Bulloch County Jail, pending further court action.
