The Georgia National Guard is teaming up with the Coast Guard. This afternoon, the Coast Guard simulated rescue missions on the Savannah River. They've stepped up training over the last couple of months preparing for the G-8 summit.
The Georgia National Guard, which specializes in biological agents like anthrax and ricin, were also at the International Trade and Convention Center to provide additional support. "So if they don't have the capabilities to identify a chemical or a biological agent, they can call on us and we can come down and give the reassurance of what they're dealing with and some actions to take," said Maj. Kevin McCann
The G-8 summit is June 8 through 10.
