Facebook tip leads to arrests in mill fire

Posted: Updated:

DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. (AP) - Authorities say a Facebook tip and an incriminating video led them to four suspects after an arson fire at a historic cotton mill in Douglasville.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that the four suspects, who range in age from 17 to 20, face charges including arson and burglary in connection with the May 12 blaze at the General West Cotton Mill.

Douglas County Sheriff Phil Miller tells WSB-TV that 2 of the suspects told detectives they never planned to burn down the building. Investigators said they'd been hanging out in the mill and setting small fires, and one blaze reignited hours later and caught fire to the mill.

Miller said one suspect returned to the mill during the fire and commented on cell phone video that "it's the best bonfire ever built."
