Hyatt Employees Train for G-8

The Coastal Empire is getting ready to welcome thousands of people from many different nations. And with the G-8 summit less than a month away, employees at the Hyatt Regency on River Street are making sure they're prepared.

Today they attended a class about customs, etiquette, and even the correct body and verbal language to use when they deal with global leaders in June.

The general manager, Domenick Buffone, says the training is necessary for all his employees. "We are learning a little bit more of what to do and what not to do, and how to interact with guests in Savannah," he said.

Buffone says his employees are expecting many different nationalities in their hotel over the next month. He adds many of them did not realize what impact the G-8 is going to have until they attended today's class.

"It's important for the city," he said. "It brings us as a hotel and a city to a different level."

The Hyatt expects many of the delegates to set up their offices at the hotel.
