SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - The Chatham-Savannah Homeless Authority has dismissed Executive Director Mark Baggett.
Baggett came under fire in April after the city of Savannah cut off funding to the authority, citing a lack of confidence in Baggett. The authority owed the city more than $140,000 in back insurance premium payments and hadn't submitted financial audits.
The city also has kicked the homeless authority out of its insurance program.
City spokesman Bret Bell said Savannah's leaders are in talks with the homeless authority, but they don't plan on re-instating funding until they see progress on the audits.
Board members have criticized Baggett for failing to raise money for the authority.
Board member Sherrill Gilbert has been named interim director.
