SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

A fire destroyed a home Tuesday morning, displacing a family of four.

It happened at about 10:50 a.m. on Tubman Street and Liberty Parkway. Fire officials said the house is a complete loss.

"Fortunately, firefighters were able to work fast to get the fire under control. damage is pretty severe on the screened porch, side of the house and also the entire rear of the house," said Mark Keller, of Savannah Fire and Emergency Services.

The fire engulfed and destroyed a screen porch on the right side of the house and had extended into the home's interior. It also destroyed the entire back of the home.

Firefighters put out the fire in about 10 minutes, but the house sustained extensive damage, according to SFES.

SFES investigators believe the point of origin of the fire was an electrical junction box on the porch area, according to SFES. A resident told investigators that the porch was being repaired at the time of the fire.

Two adults and a child were home at the time of the blaze and escaped without injury. The Southeast Georgia Chapter of the American Red Cross is helping the family by providing a temporary shelter, food and clothing.
