BEAUFORT, SC (WTOC) - A home was destroyed early Wednesday morning in Beaufort.
The Beaufort Fire Department responded to the fire. American Red Cross volunteers helped a person affected by the fire by providing temporary housing, emergency funding and a comfort kit.
The fire victim was also referred to Red Cross' partner agencies to help with the person's long term recovery.
The Red Cross has helped 1,126 people who have been affected by disasters, including home fires, in its seven-county region of Beaufort, Berkeley, Charleston, Colleton, Dorchester, Hampton and Jasper counties, since the beginning of the fiscal year on July 1, 2011.
