SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

A man arrested in connection with a string of south side burglaries appeared in court Monday.

Savannah-Chatham Metro Police said that Anthony Mathis turned himself in after WTOC's report last week. Mathis was denied bond on Monday. A judge will reconsider it after a preliminary hearing on June 18.

They were arrested Police arrested four notorious burglars who have been linked to several south side crimes.

Rasheem Famble, 17, Antoine Robinson, 19, and two juveniles were arrested and charged last week. have all been charged and arrested.

Savannah-Chatham Metro Police said they believe the group is responsible for at least 30 burglaries and have closed five of those cases.

Since January, the Davidson Street area has been hit hard by burglars, according to police. The community started calling in tips, which resulted in police serving search warrants on several houses on Davidson Street.

The search resulted in discovering several stolen items, two stolen firearms, several game consoles and a modified, to look real AK-47 aero soft rifle, which is a violation of federal law, according to police. 

SCMPD detectives believe the suspects were selling the items out of their houses on Davidson Street using a social networking site and word-of-mouth.

Detectives continue to investigate and believe more people may be involved.

Famble was charged with burglary. Robinson was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and the juveniles were arrested for burglary and theft by receiving stolen property.

    After years of an almost complete moratorium, the South Atlantic Fishery Management Council voted 12 to 1 Monday to open a limited 2017 red snapper fishing season in the South Atlantic. If approved by NOAA Fisheries, the season will likely begin in mid-to late October.
