WASHINGTON (WTOC) - Honda is recalling certain model year 2012 Honda Civics.
The driveshaft may separate and make the car lose its drive power and roll away if the parking brake hasn't been set when the gear selector has been put in park, increasing the risk of crash or pedestrian injury, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Honda will notify owners and dealers will inspect the driver's side driveshaft and install a new driveshaft for free. The recall is expected to begin on around June 21.
Car owners can call Honda customer service at 800.999.1009. Honda's recall campaign number is s40. For details, call NHTSA's vehicle safety hotline at 888.327.4236 or go to http://www.safercar.gov.
